DEMSLab 5.5 Release Notes

• The bonded-sphere plus model has been added to more accurately describe flexible particles, especially fibers and straw.

• The measurement of total mass, total volume, and bulk density is added to the tester.

• The breakage algorithm has been improved, which can significantly enhance its stability and accuracy.

• The default value of material parameter e infinity in the breakage model has been changed from 7.01 to 7.0.

• The breakage types in the breakage model have been changed to include three types: polyhedron, polyhedron and sphere, and sphere.

• The problem of non-conservation of mass during the breakage of spherical and superellipsoid particles in the breakage model has been solved.

• The function of breaking particles into spheres has been added to the user defined breakage model.

• The automatic simplification function for importing wall files (used for DEMSLab - RecurDyn coupling) has been added.

• The output of the number of triangular faces after simplifying of the device geometry file has been added.

• The polyhedron contact algorithm has been improved to enhance computational efficiency.

• A new User C Function DROPLET_CFD_CELL is added.

• The volume fraction of the discrete droplets is no longer calculated when doing CFD-DEM coupling simulation.

• DEMSLab has been improved to better support Visual Studio 2022.

• The screen output warning for deleting particles due to over contact has been changed from outputting once per time step to outputting once per monitor data reporting interval.

• The data structure has been improved to reduce memory consumption.

• The bonded-sphere dialog box has been improved.

• The DEMSLab Viewer has been improved.

• Many other small bugs have been cleared.
